Dry food for domestic animals prepd. using an extruder and which has a lamellar structure, a moisture content of 4-15 (8- 12) %, a protein content of 14-35 (20-30) %, a glucide content of at least 25 %, a lipid content of 2-20 % and a density of 0.3-0.6. Also claimed is a process for producing the prod. by mixing the basic ingredients, cooking the mixt. in an extruder, extruding the prod. in the form of a strip or tape, cutting the extrudate into pieces of appropriate size and drying the pieces to give a dry prod. with the desired structure and texture. |
