<p>Ionic compounds of the general formula (I): [M(R1)k(R2)1(R3)m(R4-L)n]-[D]+ a process for the preparation of the same; a catalytic component for olefin polymerization using the same; and a catalyst for olefin polymerization containing the component. In formula (I), M is a Group 13 element; R?1, R2 and R3¿ are each pentafluorophenyl or the like; R4 is substituted phenylene or the like; k, 1 and m are each 0 to 3 and n is 1 to 4, with the sum of k, 1, m and n being 4; L is trichlorosilyl, methyldichlorosilyl, dimethylchlorosilyl or the like; and D is a monovalent cation. A catalyst prepared by combining the above ionic compound with a carrier, an organometallic compound and a Group 4, 5 or 6 transition metal compound exhibits a high activity and can give an olefinic polymer excellent in characteristic as powder by a slurry or gas-phase process or the like without causing the deposition of the polymer in the reactor.</p> |
