CLOSURE

A composite closure for a hot filled product, which comprises a mouled plastics ring (20) with internal formations for engaging complementary formations on a container neck, and an all-plastics laminated disk (40) which is top loaded into the ring. When the closure is fitted onto the container, the disk (40) is pinched between a shoulder (24) on the ring and an outside radius (13) on the container rim. Further engagement between disk and the ring occurs where the free edge (44) of the disk engages the ring beneath its shoulder. The ring and disk therefore engage one another at two concentric and spaced locations, and these engagements together determine a predetermined desired position of the ring in relation to the disk and to the container, despite high flexibility of the disk at the elevated temperature to which it is subjected.
