摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To eliminate the influence of a mechanical tolerance or a change with the lapse of time from the holding control for holding the actual phase in a target phase, in a valve timing control device for internal combustion engine, and optimize the learning control for correcting the holding control from the first of learning. CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic variable mechanism (VVT) 25 changes the valve timing to change valve overlap. A solenoid valve 55 controls the oil pressure supplied to the VVT 25. An electronic control unit(ECU) 80 controls a hydraulic control valve (LSV) 55 to conform the actual phase to a target phase according to the operating state of an engine 1 in order to provide a valve overlap suitable for the operating state. When the actual phase is approximate to the target phase, the ECU 80 holds and controls the LSV 55 to hold the phase at that time. The ECU 80 initializes the learning value to an initial value where the valve overlap is when the learning is started at the first.</p>
