RECOMBINANT LIVE VACCINE FOR BIRD BASED ON BIRD HERPES VIRUSAND ESPECIALLY VACCINE FOR GANBORO SICKNESS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject vaccine, especially useful for preventing Gumboro diseases and effective even in chicks as young as one-day old without any secondary effects by inserting a base sequence capable of encoding an antigen of an avian pathogen into an avian herpesvirus under specific conditions. SOLUTION: An avian herpesvirus prepared by inserting a base sequence capable of encoding and expressing an antigenic polypeptide of an avian pathogen into an UL43 gene under the control of a cytomegalovirus(CMV) immediate early(IE) promoter to provide a vector. Marek's disease virus, especially a herpesvirus of turkey is preferred as the vector. The base sequence is preferably inserted after deleting the UL43 gene. For example, a human HCMV IE promoter is used as the CMV immediate early promoter. A base sequence, etc., capable of encoding b VP2 polypeptide of Gumboro disease virus [infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV)] are preferred as the base sequence. A vaccine against the Gumboro disease is preferably administered in 10-10<2> PFU at a time.
