摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently cool a superconducting material by using a sheath exposed to a coolant without covering other part of the outer surface of a stabilizing member of a cable. SOLUTION: A superconducting device 10 consists of a cable 12, a stabilizing member 14, and a sheath 16. One side or the surface 18 of the stabilizing member 14 is not surrounded by the sheath 16. The surface 18 is directly exposed to a coolant used for cooling the device 10. By the direct contact of the stabilizing member 14 with the coolant by the opening structure of the sheath 16, the device 10 is easily cooled and the cable 12 develops desired superconducting characteristics. The sheath 16 is usually made of aluminum, and serves as a mechanical supporting means to the flexible supporting member.
