<p>PURPOSE: To provide an information processor and a status display method in the processor capable of making a user easily recognize the state of a printer by displaying the state of the connected printer by the change of the color and density, for instance, of graphic pictures. CONSTITUTION: In a personal computer 12 for connecting the printer and performing printing, the printer 17 is inquired of a status by a bi-directional interface, and corresponding to the inquiry of the status, status information from the printer 17 is received through the bi-directional interface and stored. Corresponding to the stored status information, the graphic picture for indicating the state of the printer 17 is selected in a GDI 4 and the selected graphic picture is displayed on a CRT display 13. Thus, for instance, the graphic picture of the printer is displayed in black when the printer 17 is ready and in red when it is not ready.</p> |
