N<2>-(arylsulphonyl)-L-arginyl piperidine-2-carboxylate derivs. of formula (I), their free base and acid addn. salts are new. R1, R2 = H or 1-4C alkyl; R3 = 1-4C alkyl; and A = opt. substd. Ph, 5-8C cycloalkyl, thienyl or pyridinyl. The configuration of the piperidinyl gp is (2R, 4R) and that of the central aminoacid part of formula (i) is (S).
