The hammer has a stock (25) which fits into in a head (21). At least one striking end of the head has a cutting edge (31,31') on support shoulders (33,33'). The cutting edges have a convex curvature, and make a single point contact with the base material, even when it has an irregular surface profile. The curvature gives rise to a high contact pressure between the head and the workpiece. The angle ( alpha ) with which the sides of cutting edge make with the perpendicular (E) to the stock can be made greater than zero.
