Protein tyrosine kinase inhibitors are provided of formula (I), wherein R2 is H, OH, halo or O(C¿1?-C4)alkyl; R?2¿ is OH, halo or O(C¿1?-C4)alkyl; R?1¿ is (II), wherein R4 is H, OH, halo, CH¿2?OH, C(O)CH3, C(O)N(R)2 wherein each R is H or (C1-C4)alkyl; or C(O)R wherein R?6¿ is OH or O(C¿1?-C4)alkyl; and R?5¿ is OH, CH¿2?OH, C(O)CH3, C(O)N(R)2 or C(O)R?6¿; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, which inhibit the pathological proliferation or growth of mammalian cells, such as cancer cells.
