Packaging of wound paper rolls

The paper roll is covered by a packaging material, so that an axial overlap is formed. An end plate is located at each end face, and fitted with its edge angle into the gusset between end face and overlap. The overlap is folded inwards, and the end plate is pressed into engagement with the roll end. The packaging device has an end plate feeder (7) with sloping slide track (8), which ends at a set distance in front of the end face (9) of the roll. The distance is larger than the overlap. A folding unit (17) is located at the lowest point in direction of gravity. The opposite end of the slide track is connected to a conveyor belt (13,14).
