<p>Fermented beverages are treated for the removal of protein-containing complexes, tannins and other harmful components by contacting with a sufficient amount of an inorganic clay modified with 1-30% wt. of a polyvinyl resin, and then separating the beverage from the clay. The resin is pref. polyvinyl alcohol, a polyvinylether, or a vinyl acetate (CO) polymer. The treatment improves the flavour and clarity of beverages such as beer.</p> |
