<p>PURPOSE: To obtain an antibacterial agent having excellent antibacterial action on Gram-positive bacteria and Gram-negative bacteria and useful for the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases. CONSTITUTION: This antibacterial agent contains a ketonitrile derivative of formula (R<1> is H or a lower alkyl; R<2> to R<5> are each H, a halogen, nitro, a lower alkyl, a lower alkoxy or phenoxy; X is an aromatic hydrocarbon group or a heterocyclic group; Y is an aromatic hydrocarbon group, a heterocyclic group, a substituted carbonyl or an N,N-disubstituted carbamoyl) or its salt as an active component. The daily administration dose is 50mg to 1g for adult and 1-200mg/kg body-weight for mammal, poultry and fish other than human. It exhibits high antibacterial activity especially against pathogenic staphylococci including MRSA. An example of the compound of formula is 4-[4-(3-chloro-5- trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy)phenoxy]-2-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-3-oxopent anonitrile.</p> |
