PURPOSE: To prevent a read error from occurring due to a thermal asperity, etc., without correcting the reproducing signal from an MR head. CONSTITUTION: The inductive head 1 connected to the write driver 3 performing a recording and the MR head 2 connected to the reproducing circuit constituting of a pre-amplifier for MR 4∼a differentiater 8 are included in this device. The reproducing circuit consisting of a preamplifier for inductive head 10, an AGC amplifier for inductive head 11, an equalizer for inductive head 12, a low-pass filter for inductive head 13 and a gate generator for inductive head 14 are added to the side of the inductive head 1. At the time of reproducing, a peak signal detection is performed by the differentiater 8 in the side of the MR head 2 and a gate signal is generated with a level detection in the gate generator for inductive head 14 of the side of the inductive head 1 to obtain a reproduced signal from AND between the gate signal and the peak signal in a decoder 9.
