PURPOSE: To provide a method capable of pre-sterilizing rice grains to an extent capable of storing for a long period even by heat treatment carried out at 100 deg.C for 20-30min in producing a container packed cooked rice. CONSTITUTION: In this method for sterilizing rice grains using a gas or a mixture of the gas with a liquid in which at least part is ionized by an electric field or an energy converter to which electromagnetic wave is irradiated, the gas or the mixture whose at least part is ionized is brought into contact with whole surface of rice grains. Rice grains sterilized by the method is cooked in aseptic state and packed and sealed into a packing container. |
