The printing method in accordance with the invention comprises steps of; that a plurality of pieces of slip paper 1 which have been bound into a book and to the outer surface of which ink 6 containing an initiator F and either one of coloring matter C1 and a precursor of coloring matter C2 is applied are placed, that a printing plate 9 having a through portion 12 through which the radiation B penetrates and whose shape corresponds to a pattern 7 to be printed is placed on the stacked slip paper 1 and that X-rays B are irradiated upon the printing plate 9 from the above direction so as to print the pattern 7 of a character on each pieces of the slip paper 1 at a desired area 5 thereof.
