A vehicle tyre having a tread strip (2) of electrically insulating or poorly conductive material forming the tyre running surface (1) and a conducting layer (3) of good electrical conductivity arranged beneath the tread strip (2), characterised by a layer (37) of material which conducts electricity well, provided between the two mutually abutting end faces (29,30) of the tread band (38) which is bent into the ring shaped tread strip (2); and in that this layer (37) extends radially outwardly to the ground contacting surface of the tread strip (2) and is electrically connected to the conducting layer (3) beneath the tread strip which is connected to the tyre bead region (13) in a manner which conducts electricity well. <IMAGE>
