Method for providing interactive television

The method involves generating a television signal corresp. to a television transmission on the transmitter side and contg. additional signals. The television and additional signals are transmitted over a transmission path and a representation of the television is displayed on a screen on the receiver side. The additional signals contain branching information enabling selection one of different propagation variants for the television transmission. A menu page is shown for a given time under transmitter control for selection of one of the variants. After expiry of the defined time, propagation signals are generated at the transmitter corresp. to the different propagation variants and transmitted to the receiver end where the selected variant is displayed.
