PURPOSE: To obtain the subject recombinant virus useful for producing a polyvalent live vaccine for an animal or manifesting an alien gene product in an animal cell or in an animal body, etc. CONSTITUTION: An alien gene-manifesting cassette using a gB-gene promoter derived from a herpes virus is recombined into a herpes virus as a promoter for manifesting an alien gene to obtain the subject recombinant herpes virus. In a case of 1-type Marek's disease virus (MDV1) as one kind of the herpes virus, a gB-gene promoter derived from MDV1 is preferable and a gene fragment containing a sequence of a base number 61-557 expressed by the formula is the most preferable as a gB-gene promoter gene fragment derived from MDV1.
