PURPOSE: To provide a stable bearing unit without oil leakage. CONSTITUTION: A bearing unit bears a rotary shaft 2 rotatably by setting two porous oil retaining slide bearings 4a and 4b impregnated with oil apart from the bearing space 1c between nonmagnetic bearing housings 1a and 1b, and interposing magnetic fluid 5 between the rotary shaft 2 and the porous oil retaining slide bearings 4a and 4b. The retention of the magnetic fluid 5 and circulative oiling are performed between the two porous oil retaining slide bearings 4a and 4b.
