PURPOSE: To provide a steel sheet for fuel tank excellent in workability and corrosion resistance together with prevention from a carburetor clogging due to zinc dissolving by controlling composition of tin-zinc plating layer, crystal particle size, formed on the steel sheet surface, and thickness of alloy layer at a boundary between the steel-sheet the alloy layer. CONSTITUTION: A plating layer consisting of 0.5-20% Zn and the balance, Sn with inevitable impurities is formed on the steel sheet and major axis dimension of plated metal crystal at the most outside surface is made as <=20mm and thickness of the alloy layer at the lower part boundary of the plating layer is made as <=2.0μm. Further, preferably in order to improve wettability, Ni, Co or Cu is plated before formation of Tin-Zinc plating layer and the alloy layer containing one kind or >= two kinds of these metals is formed. Or, on the Tin-Zinc plating layer, 1.0-100mg/m<2> chromate coating layer in terms of chrome is formed.
