PURPOSE: To respectively insure required line pressure according to various sorts of running conditions, by setting the line pressure capably of surely transmitting input torque to a friction element and so as not to generate deterioration of fuel consumption due to raising the pressure more than need, in line pressure control at steady running in the oil pressure control circuit of an automatic transmission. CONSTITUTION: This control device for an automatic transmission respectively computes a line pressure P1 in response to turbine torque Tt, line pressure P2 in response to throttle openingθ, line pressure P3 in response to vehicle speed, and line pressure P4 in response to whether it is during lockup control or not, adopts the maximum line pressure among these line pressure P1-P4 as target line pressure P0 , and controls a line pressure so as to obtain the target line pressure P0 . |
