PURPOSE: To reduce the generation of printing wasting trouble such as feed inferiority by providing a printing speed altering means issuing a command altering the printing speed possible to withstand of a medium and a printing speed control means performing the control of the designated printing speed. CONSTITUTION: A printing speed designation means 11 designates a printing speed corresponding to the demand from an operator or a host device. When the printing speed impossible to withstand of a medium to be printed is designated, a printing speed altering means 12 alters the printing speed to a printing speed possible to withstand on the basis of the medium data outputted from a medium data output means 13 to issue a command to a printing speed control means 14. Contrarily, printing can be performed at a high speed by altering the printing speed up to the limit of the printing speed possible to withstand of the medium to be printed. By this constitution, the optimum printing speed corresponding to the quality of a printing medium can be realized certainly and efficiently. In consideration of a printing speed and printing quality contrary to each other, printing quality can be enhanced. |
