A lubricant for application to polyurethane foam mouldings, in particular upholstery elements, comprises a dispersion in water of one or more emulsifiers and an active substance which is a water-insoluble, liquid polyoxypropylene or polyoxypropylene-polyoxyethylene ether having an ethylene oxide content less than or equal to 15%, a mean molecular weight of from 6 000 to 12 000 and a viscosity of from 2 500 to 6 000 mPa.s. Polyurethane mouldings, e.g. upholstery elements when coated with the lubricant, are easier to cover with fabrics.
