The conveyor belt has a large number of drive units (17) with a small drive output and short extension. These are arranged over the length of the conveyor belt (10) at intervals defined by their axial gap. Drive units with a drive belt (21) are allocated to the upper belt (12) of the conveyor belt and also to the lower belt (13). Separate drive units are provided for the upper and lower belts.
