An apparatus for producing a flow in a high temperature liquid in a container heated by a heating element is novel in that, to produce a uniform flow profile in at least the bottom region of the container (1), the heating element (2) is located on the face (3) of the container (1) arranged at right angles to the direction of flow, the bottom region of the container being unheated.
