The spray control has actuators (6,7) to adjust the height of the spray arms and has an automatic control circuit responding to set inputs (CDS,CDD) and to feedback sensors. A separate sensor (15) monitors the delivery of the spray and detects a halt in the spray delivery. The controller (8) then alters the set values (CDS,CDD) applied to the actuators controlling the position of the spray arms so that they cause the arms to be raised. The controller also stores upper and lower limits for spray arm height, and operates in three zones: a zone where the regulator does not operate, a normal regulation zone, and an urgent zone where the interval between control signals is minimised.
