PURPOSE: To ensure superior stability over a long period of time and superior sliding durability by forming a protective film layer with carbon or oxide ceramics and forming a lubricant layer of a fluorine-contg. compd. on the surface of the protective film layer. CONSTITUTION: The top of an Al alloy substrate 1 is coated with an Ni-P plating film 2 as a hard underlayer in 13μm thickness, and Cr, and carbon are successively laminated by sputtering as an under film layer 3 in 800Åthickness, and as a protective film layer 5 in 200Åthickness. A lubricant layer 6 is further formed on the top of the layer 5 by dissolving 0.05% fluorine-contg. compd. represented by the formula and coating the layer 5 with the resultant soln. by dipping so as to attain 20Åthickness and the objective magnetic recording medium having high reliability is obtd. |
