Power transmission control device e.g. for motor vehicle

The device to control the transmission of power from a vehicle engine uses signals of engine speed, target acceleration/deceleration and road conditions. A decision is taken as to whether the road conditions are dangerous, in which case the target values are altered. The braking or driving torque applied to a wheel is also subject to the road condition signal. The unit for deciding whether road conditions are dangerous also notes whether the seat belts are fastened. It contains a television camera and radar for viewing in the forwards travelling direction, the former for detecting bends in the road, the latter for obstacles on the road.
