PURPOSE: To obtain a block copolymer excellent in impact resistance, physical property balance (rigidity, impact resistance and MFR) and appearance of molded products. CONSTITUTION: In the production of a block copolymer comprising 95-10wt.% of following block (i) and 5-90wt.% of following block (ii) is obtained by at least 2-step polymerization of propylene and/(or) ethylene, the polymerization catalyst is prepared by preliminary polymerization treatment where anα-olefin and a polyene are brought into contact with a polymerization catalyst comprising following components A and B, A and C or A, B and C in the absence of hydrogen: Component A: a transition metal compound catalyst component, Component B: an organometallic compound catalyst component containing a metal in group I-III of the periodic table, Component C: a compound forming an ionic complex by reacting with a transition metal compound in the component A, Block (i): a block of a polymer containing 100-90wt.% of propylene and 0-10wt.% of ethylene, block (ii): a block of a polymer containing 0-90wt.% of propylene and 100-10wt.% of ethylene.
