PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition containing a diazabicyclo[4.2.0]octanedioxo compound having a specific structure as an active ingredient, strongly inhibiting the growth of uterine cervix carcinoma cells (HeLa) and useful in antitumor therapy. SOLUTION: This pharmaceutical composition contains a 5-thia-1,4 diazabicyclo[4.2.0]octane-3,8-dioxo compound of the formula [R<1> is H, a halogen; R<2> is H, a halogen, amino, CONH, phthalimido, 3-o-chlorophenyl-5- methylisoxazolyl-4-carbonylamino, etc.; R<3> is H, an alkyl, benzyl, a heterocyclic ring such as isoxazole or pyrazole; (n) is 1, 2] as an active ingredient. When used in a concentration of e.g. 10<-3> to 10<-6> M, the compound of the formula gives a tumor cell-controlling effect of 25-65% after 72 hr, but is preferably used in a concentration of 5×10<-4> M. |
