PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound of capable of giving an image of from blue to cyan of excellent density, excellent in fastness of image part against light and heat, scarcely coloring a non-image part by light, excellent in light resistance and useful as an electron-donating colorless dye for a pressure and heat sensitive recording material. CONSTITUTION: This is a compound of formula I [R<1> and R<2> are each H, an alkyl, an aryl, etc., and R<1> and R<2> are cannot be H at the same time; R<3> is SR<4> (R<4> is an alkyl, an aryl, etc.) or OCONHR<5> (R<5> is an alkyl, an aryl, etc.); R<6> and R<7> are each H, alkyl or an aryl; R<8> and R<9> are each H, an alkyl, a halogen, etc.], e.g. a compound of formula II. A compound of formula I is produced e.g. by reacting m-ethylthio-N,N'-diethylaniline with 1-ethyl-2- methylindole-3-yl 3-carboxypyridine-2-yl ketone. |
