A drive oscillator (11) sends a signal to a sweep antenna (12) which receives the reflections and sends them to an microwave frequency device (14) and a mean frequency amplifier (15). A demodulator (17) produces a fixed frequency at its output to a distance selector (19), which samples the video signal at times corresponding to certain distances and encodes them and thence to a filter (21) which has two pass bands corresponding to the first two frequency bands of the output. The feedback loop has an error measurement circuit (22), which detects the phase rotation of the signal of the filter output, and a local oscillator (23) which provides the other input to the demodulator.
