MAGNETIC HEAD AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic head which is improved in the characteristic of the asymmetry of reproduced output voltage waveforms by suppressing magnetic interference and a process for production thereof. CONSTITUTION: This magnetic head has a recording and reproducing head 1 formed by joining aΓ-shaped core 2 and an I-shaped core 3 via a magnetic gap 4 and an erasing head 6 formed by joining aΓ-shaped core 7 and an I- shaped core 8 via a magnetic gap 9. The I-shaped core 3 of the recording and reproducing head 1 and the I-shaped core 8 of the erasing head 6 are joined. An oxygen rich layer 15 is formed on at least one joint surface joined with the I-shaped core 3 of the recording and reproducing head 1 and the I-shaped core 8 of the erasing head 6.
