<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance card-edge connector of high density and low impedance which is useful for a high-frequency circuit. SOLUTION: This high-performance card-edge connector 10 is equipped with a housing 16, having an elongate printed circuit card accepting slot 38 in an upper wall 18. Terminals 44, 46, 48 are attached in a lateral cavity 28 crossed by the slot. Alternate cavity parts 28A accept a pair of signal terminals 44, 46, and alternate cavity parts 28B accept a single grounding terminal 48. The terminals are each equipped with board contact parts 52, 64, 74 extending downwards for connection to a printed circuit board and card contact parts 56, 68, 80 situated at the slot for engagement with contact pads of an inserted card. The respectively pairs of signal terminals, by whose side two grounding terminals are provided on the same side of the slot, stand sideways opposite to grounding terminals situated on the opposite side of the slot. Each of the cavity parts can accept a grounding terminal or a pair of signal terminals because of a uniform identical cavity constitution.</p> |
