PURPOSE: To prevent external light from entering in an image reader. CONSTITUTION: An original holder 40 is held on a holder table 50 and driven in a subscanning direction (x) by a subscanning driving mechanism. In the case the original holder 40 is inserted from an insertion port 32, the holder table 50 is moved in the subscanning direction (x) while the end of the original holder 40 is pressed by a pawl part provided in a pawl/shutter driving mechanism 64. Then, only the holder table 50 is moved and the original holder 40 is located at a holding position on the rotary table part 54 of the holder table 50. In the midst of reading the original, a shutter 62 gets in a closed state and the external light from the insertion port 32 is prevented from entering. The shutter 62 and the pawl part are interlocked and driven by one pawl/shutter driving mechanism 64. |
