A method for wrapping individual luggage pieces (1), using one or more conveyor belts (2) on which each piece of luggage (1) is conveyed between an inlet (3) and an outlet (4) of a wrapping apparatus. The apparatus uses means for stretching at least one plastic film (5) for wrapping each piece of luggage (1); size sensors which determine the size of the plastic film(s) (5) according to the luggage (1) to be wrapped; means (6) for securing the wrapping around the luggage; cutting means (7); heating means (8) for allowing the plastic film(s) (5) to retract around each luggage (1) thus wrapped, and means (10) for attaching one or more separate handles (11) for handling the wrapped luggage (1). The invention is useful for wrapping luggage for transport.
