Optical transmission system with transmission module and modulator

The optical signal transmitter (100) includes a signal intensity modulator (6) operating in dependence on a binary, digital electrical NRZ signal, for the signal transmission. The modulator is driven by an electrical signal. The optical fibre system (101) has a wavelength dispersion for propagation of the light signal transmitted from the optical transmitter. The optical signal receiver (102) is supplied by the optical fibre system and converts the optical signal to an electrical signal. A driver (1-3) adjusts the shape of the electrical signal, supplied to the modulator such that the time point for optical signal transition from a high to a low level occurs later than the time point for optical signal transition from a low to a high level.
