PURPOSE: To obtain a polystyrene resin which can give a molding having an appearance with controlled gloss and being amenable to a matte finish and can be used as a material for industrial materials such as sheets for e.g. food packaging, automotive components, construction materials, electric and electronic materials and machine parts. CONSTITUTION: A polystyrene resin having a syndiotactic structure and a weight- average molecular weight of 1×10<4> to 2×10<6> , wherein the weight fraction of an extract obtained by dissolving the polymer in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene, cooling the solution and extracting the obtained gel with methylene chloride is more than 10wt.%; a surface-processed polystyrene resin prepared by heat-treating the above polystyrene resin; a molding of the above polystyrene resin; and a surface-processed molding prepared by heat-treating the above molding are provided. |
