PURPOSE: To obtain sea alga detritus granules easily adhesive for bacterial cells, useful as a feed for fry, Copepoda, etc., in terms of their size, floatability and suspensibility, etc. CONSTITUTION: Sea algae are subjected to marine bacteria belonging to Alteromonas and having both decomposing and adhesive actions on the structural components of sea algal tissue to effect decomposition into detritus suitable as an initial feed and having nearly uniform granular size composition, thus obtaining the objective sea alga detritus granules. As the marine bacteria, Alteromonas espejiana isolated from the coastal seawater in Yokosuka city, Kanagawa Pref., Japan [esp. Alteromonas sp. AR06 strain (FERM BP-5024)] is used. |
