The device comprises a conveyor for transporting the material (19) through a device (20) which generates microwaves (21) and directs them against the material. The conveyor follows an essentially vertical path over horizontal, microwave transparent supports (13). A device (12) at one end of the conveyor delivers the material as a spread out layer onto the supports. - At the other end of the conveyor a device (15) is used to remove material.
