The signal lamp (1) has a flat base (6) with a hole (20) to allow passage of the lamp bulb. A cover (2) is fitted over the lamp bulb, engaging with the base. The cover has at its base, two tapered tongues (7) diametrically opposite each other. The taper on the tongues allows easy insertion into slots (21) in the base. The slots have a wide part (22) to allow insertion of the tongues, and a narrower part (23) that allows passage of the neck of the tongue when the cover is rotated to lock it in place. The head (9) of the tongue is then trapped under the base. Two projections (14) from the base engage in guide slots in the bottom of the cover. Fold-over tabs (24) act as anti-return stops once the cover is in place.
