Cast pressure seals from vinyl plastisols to avoid escape - of volatile fluids

Seals for containing volatile materials in pressurised vessels are cast from a plastisol based on a vinyl polymer or copolymer, pref. of vinyl or vinylidene chloride or acetate or a vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol copolymer. Compared with use of elastomers or lactic derivatives in a carrier fluid, avoids toxicity; flammability, cost and production time of removing solvents or water and consequent contraction of the sealant. The plastisols may be premoulded when partially gelled to obtaine seals of reproducible shape and consistency.
