PURPOSE: To prevent the melt-sticking of a β-alumina formed body to a setter and deformation of the β-alumina tube due to the sintering of the β-alumina formed body from occurring at the time of inversely erecting the cylindrical β-alumina formed body having a closed bottom on the setter so that the open end side of the formed body faces downward and placing them in a refractory vessel to sinter the β-alumina formed body. CONSTITUTION: In this method, at the time of inversely erecting a cylindrical β-alumina formed body 11 having a closed bottom on a setter 12 so that the open end side of the formed body 11 faces downward and placing them in a refractory vessel which has a composition consisting of a 99.0wt.% MgO content to sinter the formed body 11, the setter 12 has a composition consisting of a >=99.0wt.% MgO content, and also, <=4.0μm surface roughness (Ra). |
