ALUMINIUM SCRAP REFINING METHOD AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To obtain a refined material of aluminium having a high purity by efficiently diffusing a crystallized intermetallic compound into a mother liquor from the solidified boundary. CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic force is applied to an aluminium molten metal to form a molten metal-flow running toward the solidified boundary when the aluminium molten metal is refined by crystallizingα-Al crystals after impurities crystallized as an intermetallic compound is diffused into the aluminium molten metal 19 from the solidified boundary. The electromagnetic force efficiently acts for the refining of the molten metal-flow running toward the solidified boundary when an electromagnetic agitators 15, 16 are installed on sidewalls 13, 14 where top-cut pyramid-shaped furnace shells having an opening on the top face to each other. Thus, the intermetallic compound is carried away from the solidified boundary by the circulation of the molten metal, thus the purity of the crystallizedα-Al crystals is improved.
