PURPOSE: To improve life performance by mixing a lithium nitrate, a manganese carbonate, and a nickel nitrate, baking the mixture, and pressurizing and baking it. CONSTITUTION: A lithium nitrate, a manganese carbonate, and a nickel nitrate are mixed, the mixture is baked at 750-850 deg.C, it is re-baked one or more times under pressurization, or aqueous ammonia is added to the alcohol or water containing the inorganic salt, hydroxide, or organic acid salt of Li or a mixture of them, the inorganic salt or organic acid salt of Mn or a mixture of them, the inorganic salt or organic acid salt of a metal selected from Ni, Co, Fe, Zn or a mixture of them to obtain a gelatinized object, and it is baked to obtain a positive electrode active material for a lithium battery expressed by the formula Lix Mn2-y MyO4 with the spinel structure of the cubic crystal having the lattice constant 8.190Å or below, where M indicates bivalent Ni, Co, Fe, Zn; 0.45<=y<=0.60; 1<=x<=2.1. |
