PURPOSE: To easily execute automatic switching of application by reading out a service name written in picture information constituted of picture data and switching a control part in a DCT operation part. CONSTITUTION: At the time of receiving an incoming call from an opposite terminal, a communication part 5 processes the call and a CPU 29 reads out and analyzes a service name written in the header information of a picture frame information. Which service is selected by the opposite terminal, video conference service or video ON demand service, is recognized. When the video conference service is selected, the capacity of the opposite terminal is checked and a descrete cosine transformation(DCT) operation part 9 in a coding/decoding (CODEC) part 7 is switched to a video conference (H.261) control part 11 for controlling the DCT operation part 9. When the video ON demand service is selected, display resolution displayed on a TV monitor is checked and the DCT operation part 9 is switched to a video ON demand (MPEG) control part 13. |
