FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, thermal treatment of wire, narrow strips, bars and small diameter pipes. SUBSTANCE: method involves directing wire by drawing mechanism through chamber containing graphite with density of 0.5-1.8 g/cu sm and heating in vacuum of 1-40 Pa to austenitic state; providing intensified cooling to temperature at which isothermal decomposition of austenite in steel occurs by withdrawal of heat through graphite, which is compressed by applying force of 20-200 kg/sq cm along direction of advancement of product; effectuating plastic deformation of steel in austenitic state by drawing die to the extent of 2-20%; drawing wire in resilient state through isothermal holding zone, with tension force ranging from 0.5 to 1.0 of yield stress of steel in austenitic state, for 0.1-10 min, with designated isothermal austenite decomposition temperature ranging from /(M+20 C) - 650 C/, where M is initial martensite transformation temperature in steel. Continuous thermal treatment allows mechanical properties of products to be increased by 10-20% and isothermal austenite decomposition time to be reduced by 20-40%. EFFECT: increased efficiency, improved quality of products and simplified method. |
