FIELD: hard-metal inserts for rock-cutting tools. SUBSTANCE: hard-metal insert for rock-cutting tool has shank and cutting part with side cutting edges and main cutting edge. Main cutting edge is formed by intersection of rear face convex in shape with the front face. Front face of cutting part is formed by the central section of convex in shape and by two flat side sections. Each side cutting edge is formed by intersection of respective side section of front face with rear face. Side sections of front face are symmetrical relative to central sections and conjugated with the latter in lines. Conjugating lines are located at an angle to each other with angle vertex oriented in direction to shank. Shank is cylinder of revolution in shape. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 7 cl, 4 dwg
