Flexible plastics foil with magnetic characteristics e.g. for audio, image and data recording

The foil (F) contains a magnetically soft material e.g. ferrite particles contained within the thickness of the foil. The foil is used as electromagnetic screening for a coil, or as the core of a flat coil, by providing it with a winding (W) with the successive winding turns lying in the same plane as the foil. The foil pref. has a large length/cross-section ratio for field focusing within the coil.
